Waste collection tax assessment 2021 for more than six collections of residual waste container

Thursday 3 February 2022

Starting 2021, your waste collection tax has been divided into a fixed and a variable part. The fixed part includes the first six collections of the container. You received a tax assessment for this in early 2021. If you had your residual waste container emptied more than six times in 2021, you will receive an additional tax assessment soon. This will be sent by regular mail to your home address or electronically to your MijnOverheid message box. This news item tells you more about the tax assessment.

Paying extra for additional collections

The tax assessment provides information on the additional amount you have to pay for collections in excess of the six collections included in the basic, fixed rate. A few examples: If you had your residual waste container emptied eight times in 2021, you pay an additional amount for two collections on top of the six basic collections. If you had your residual waste container emptied ten times, you pay an additional amount for four additional collections.

Check number of collections online

You can check the number of times you had your residual waste container emptied in 2021 in our "e-loket". This is the municipal council’s digital tax counter.

Not everyone will receive a tax assessment

If you had your residual waste container emptied no more than six times in 2021, or if you are living somewhere that has collective waste collection (such as De Veste), you will not receive a tax assessment.

If you are unable to pay taxes

If you are unable to pay municipal taxes, the municipality may grant you what is called tax remission. If you already received this remission for 2021, it is already included in the tax assessment. Were you not entitled to remission of taxes last year but has your situation changed? Then you may still apply for remission. Click here for more information on remission.

Would you like to receive your tax assessment electronically from now on?

You can apply for this on MijnOverheid. However, you do need a DigiD (digital ID) for this. Simply create an account on MijnOverheid.
